Enquire about schools, hospitals, parks, pharmacists, clubs, banks etc. Write to these people in advance intimating them of you moving in there. Check for information on crime rates, costs of living etc. Contact your neighbors or your landlord and try getting information from them. You can also ask your Mover for some off hand information. Internet is the safest bet for gathering information.

If you are on an International Move, enquire about the local culture, and customs etc. If you are taking your car, check for regulations on automobile imports, emission norms and traffic rules.

Learn in advance about the voltage and make necessary changes to your electrical appliances. Check for the best providers of gas, electricity, cable and telephone services in your new neighborhood. Contact them and intimate them of your relocation.
